Where We Lay Hardwood
An engineered plank has a real wood top layer bonded to a cross-grained core. That core keeps the board steady when furnace heat dries the air in January, and it lets the plank sit on concrete. Solid hardwood needs a plywood subfloor to nail into, so it belongs in houses with wood-framed floors.

We quote after a free visit to measure your rooms. The number you get in writing is the number you pay, with no extras on install day.
Solid or engineered hardwood: which should I pick?
Engineered copes better with Toronto’s dry winters and humid summers, and it can sit on concrete, so condos and basements get engineered. Solid boards carry more wood above the tongue, which means more sandings over the years. At the measure we look at your subfloor and tell you which fits.
Can you lay hardwood on concrete or below grade?
Engineered plank, yes. We glue it or float it over the slab, and its layered core handles the moisture that concrete gives off. Solid wood does not belong below grade, so a basement with a wood look calls for engineered.
How many days will the install take?
Most rooms are typically completed in one to three days, depending on size and subfloor. We give you the dates before we start, and we tidy the rooms at the close of each workday.
Will you install hardwood I bought myself?
Yes, once we have looked at it. Boards with a thin veneer or poor milling fail within a few seasons, so we check the product before we book you in. Send the product name and your square footage and we will price the labour.
